Kalahari Resorts wanted to show their visitors that their waterparks & convention centers are not just African-themed, they’re truly inspired by African art and culture. Jacobson Rost sent a team of filmmakers to Africa as the family traveled the continent and experienced Africa firsthand. Working with several hundred hours of footage (shot by Chicago director Martin Rodahl, DP Chris LeClerc and South African cameraman Mark van Wijk), we assembled six shortform documentary stories showcasing the beauty and energy of Africa and its people. Kalahari was adamant that this not be series of straight sell-pieces and that allowed us to let the images, the people, and the experiences speak for themselves. This ambitious project resulted in nine total documentaries, footage for many additional pieces, and inspired a second (even more ambitious) trip to Africa two years later.
